Citizenship participation

In order to decide what the Rec district of Igualada should be like in the future, it is not enough to work only with technical knowledge. Plans, topographical studies and information about the buildings are not enough. It is also essential to know and take into account the perceived problems, the needs and aspirations, the history and the everyday life experiences of its neighbours.

That is why the project enquiry for the Rec district favours spaces in which the knowledge of the citizens can combine with technical knowledge, to enrich it and condition it, and obtain a more complete and socially feasible proposal.

During the enquiry, two key spaces for citizenship participation are established:

The Rec Council (Consell del Rec), which combines all the social, economic and politic agents of the district, and has the main objective of following up the whole enquiry process, being part of the jury and put forward their view on what the district should be like to the contestants.

The open debates about the Rec, in which all the citizens of Igualada who are interested can participate, will give the possibility of expressing opinions, proposals, problems and needs of the district to the contending teams, so that they can answer them with their proposals. Participate!
